When autumn leaves start falling off the trees, it turns time for conference season, both in politics & business. During this time each year, I recommend analytics & insight related events to consider attending. For some of these Customer Insight Leader has negotiated discounts that we can pass on to our subscribers.
Given my past post around an infographic shared by SalesForce.com (hybrid marketer), I have to comment on this new infographic being shared by MarketingDistillery.com. At first glance there is much to praise here compared to summaries others have published. Too many either confuse the specialist nature of a data scientist role with a marketing or customer insight analyst, or neglect the fact that even these geeks need softer skills. On that.. Read More
Browsing Google Images this morning, you would think Valentine’s day was to celebrate love for the Infographic. There are so many published this year! Well if you can’t beat them… I’ve mentioned before the benefit of infographics, as well as other forms of data visualisation. As a second entry to this new section, I was struck by this infographic from SmartInsights that was shared by the IDM as part of their round-up of August Marketing news. I think they’ve done a pretty good job of combining the learning from Google and McKinsey. This visualisation helps remind us that today’s consumers have a more involved and iterative awareness & consideration journey before we can start measuring conversion… Read More
I was struck by this graphic published by Visually that was trending on Twitter a couple of days ago. Although about marketers, it set me pondering about today’s hybrid Customer Insight leader. Apart from being an eye catching infographic and ringing true as to the challenge for modern marketers, it prompts an equal or bigger challenge for insight leaders. Over the years this role has evolved into one requiring CI leaders to have.. Read More
I believe in the importance of data visualisation, both because most people can more readily understand a visual representation than tables of numbers and because it is a useful language with which to communicate not just analysis but story. In other words, the challenge to appropriately visualise data or analysis, encourages the analyst to get closer to insights. Anyway, I’ll blog more on that wider topic another time, for now..
