conversation about maximising value from customer insight

Do mega conferences really help your CPD, even in Vegas?

As we have focussed on knowledge management, thinking environments & personal development this month, it makes sense to consider the role of conferences. Working as a professional speaker or chair, especially for Customer Insight or Analytics related events, you will have seen a number of conferences feature in Events section of this blog. But, none of us should give up precious time to attend these, if they don’t help us.. Read More

What are the questions, that insight leaders today, want answered? (part 1)

Yesterday, I had the privilege of chairing a table at DataIQ’s 2017 Discussion event. It was a great opportunity to hear the questions that insight leaders today most want answered. Not surprisingly, I was invited to chair a table on the topic of ‘Customer Insight‘. There were about 70-80 data & insight leaders attending this event, each having 8 tables to choose from, for their 3 ’roundtable sessions’. So, it was.. Read More

Tips from passionate Data Insight Leaders in Barcelona

Attending the 2016 Data Insight Leaders Summit in Barcelona proved to be a very wise decision. Unlike so many buzzword-focussed events, this one actually did attract speakers & delegates who were data insight leaders. Six key themes emerged consistently during the day: a) try, try & try again; b) fail fast & fail cheaply; c) data is an asset, manage it as such; d) insight is.. Read More

Event: Insurance Data & Analytics 2014

This event organised by Post Magazine was pretty well attended by Insurers and their suppliers. Although the audience was pretty quiet during Q&A sessions after each speaker, there was plenty of time for questions and a good buzz of questions & ideas during the breaks. A good mix of presentations, interviews and panel sessions as well. With apologies to those who my failing memory has overlooked, here are my recollections:.. Read More

Event: CII Regional Market Forum

Good to present at this event on the relevance of Behavioural Economics to the Insurance industry. I’m used to presenting on this theme to marketers but it was interesting to engage with underwriters, brokers and other insurance professionals.   The follow-up to this will be an article I’ve written, entitled “Why Behavioural Economics matters for Insurers“, to be published in July’s CII Journal. Plus it afforded us all a fine.. Read More
